The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) is seeking a PhD candidate to join the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and conduct research within the European MARMED project.
The research will focus on modeling the transport and transformation of contaminants, especially emerging contaminants, in groundwater systems during Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR).
The work will involve developing numerical models of groundwater flow, solute transport and reactive transport; analyzing field and laboratory data; and investigating pollutant mitigation scenarios. The candidate will also collaborate with the project’s experimental and field teams at the Besòs river basin pilot site.

🔎 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲
A Master’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Hydrology, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or a related field. Programming and computational skills are relevant. Experience with high-performance computing, MODFLOW 6 and reactive transport modeling will be valued.
