Coupled modeling of flow and reactive transport in porous media to simulate the evolution of flow field

Autor: Abhijit Chaudhuri (Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai)

Abstract:

Reactive transport in porous media may lead to various interesting evolution of flow pattern in subsurface system e.g. dissolution/precipitation of mineral results in the alteration of flow paths, concentration dependent density and viscosity causes flow instability etc. In this seminar I will first present some results related to complex flow field evolutions in natural and engineered subsurface systems. It will be followed by brief presentation of our ongoing research on reactive transport modeling related to membrane filtration, coupled flow and geomechanics, etc.
